Venterra Group (as a start-up) initially used Excel for its reporting moving swiftly to Lucanet for consolidation. The recommended and obvious choice for our disclosure management was SmartNotes as it integrated seamlessly. The software also made a better impression in comparison to other disclosure management tools. Our first step was setting SmartNotes up for our month end reports which worked brilliantly, this was then adapted for budgeting and forecasting packs and finally for our annual report. Since December 2022, it is now used not just to produce the Group annual report but for all entity statutory accounts within the Venterra Group which potentially saves days of time and associated costs.
For Michelle Gilles, the ability to work more efficiently was the most important factor in opting for SmartNotes: “At the moment, we don’t incorporate regulatory requirements into the process of preparing annual reports. We were very keen to automate our reporting processes. So SmartNotes only references Lucanet and does away with error-prone spreadsheets.” The efficiency that Venterra wanted has been clearly apparent since the company started working with the new software.
